Horncastle Cricket Club’s Sunday team swept to an emphatic six wicket win at Hougham and Marston in Division Three of the Lincoln and District League.
An excellent bowling performance saw Hougham dismissed for 112 and Rob Bee (45) then top scored as Horncastle posted 113-4 in just 21 overs.
Hougham’s batsmen never looked happy against Horncastle’s attack with skipper Nathan Whiting making early inroads.
He finished with 3-24 and Richard Hickling (3-21) also lent excellent support as wickets fell at regular intervals.
There was fine support from Michael Ackerman (1-27), Ashley Bullivant (2-17) and Ben Clarke (1-17).
Kieran Wilson and Bee made a positive start to Horncastle’s run chase before Wilson was clean bowled by Kyle Durham for 14 with the score on 26.
Bee then teamed up with Ben Fidling in what proved to be a matchwinning stand as the pair took the score to 97.
Fidling fell for 24 and Bee went just five runs short of what would have been an excellent half century before Andrew Bullivant and Ashley Bullivant saw Horncastle to maximum points.
This Sunday, Horncastle entertain Sleaford seconds.
The club’s first team is also in action this weekend when they visit Outcasts in Division One of the Lincolnshire County League.
