LETTER: Thank you Coningsby for welcoming Vera

To the people of Coningsby,

Thanks from a grateful Canadian to the citizens of your lovely town, who have displayed flags and good will to all the Canadians accompanying VERA.

It has been a remarkable tour which has accomplished its purpose to honour the veterans on both sides of the Atlantic, who flew in Bomber Command.

VERA is leaving this week, but the memories of this summer will last a lifetime.

We here in southern Ontario, close to VERA’s home base in Hamilton, have watched the reception she has received with awe and gratitude, and been terribly jealous of all in the UK (and especially Coningsby) who have seen both amazing Lancasters fly together. It has been a remarkable adventure.
