LETTER: Sorry to be leaving Horncastle and town council

It is with deep regret and a heavy heart that I resign from my position as Town Councillor. As you may well know, I am currently studying for a degree in politics with the University of York.

Until recently this did not hinder my ability to represent the town but with my final year fast approaching and personal relationships taking me elsewhere I do not feel that I can continue to do the role justice. The last 2 years have been an incredible experience and I want to thank my fellow councillors and most importantly the voters for giving me this opportunity. Growing up, Horncastle, gave me so much and I hope that I have at least gone some way to paying that back. The town council does vital work within the town and is sometimes overlooked and under praised. Recently there has been some big changes in personnel - some good, some incredibly unfortunate, but I have confidence that the remaining members and the new additions will take the town forward. It is very important that there are younger people going ahead, they are the future and they should be the ones shaping it. As I say farewell to the town I would like to say a personal thank you to my family and friends, the schools, the sports clubs and the local businesses that have guided me through this chapter in my life. Horncastle will always be my home.
