Queen Elizabeth’s Grammar School’s sailing team stormed the annual Lincoln District Sailing Association Regatta held at Hykeham Sailing Club to come home with two trophies.

Beckett Marshall, aged 15, took first place in the
Topper class. Seventeen-year-old Roisin Waters achieved second place and 15-year-old Adam Kemp came third.

All three sailors not only beat the competition from other county schools, but also managed to finish before a sailor who will compete at the Topper Worlds at Lake Garda in the summer. Horncastle’s 16 participating students can be proud of their achievements.

QEGS Sailing Club runs during the summer months with students travelling to Hykeham Sailing Club to develop their racing skills.

Staff and sixth form students who have gained RYA Instructor qualifications will run learn-to-sail courses.

For more information, see the LDSA website.

The school’s sailing club has been running since the 1980s and Mr O’Neill, who runs QEGS Sailing, is planning to extend participation to Banovallum students next year.
