The Friends of St Mary’s Church’s Saturday Coffee Morning at the Community Centre were interrupted by the arrival of a particularly talented musician at the weekend

The noted world class pianist Benjamin Frith called in to have a look at St Mary’s Church where he is due to give a concert on June 5th, an event that will attract music lovers from all over the county.

Mr Frith, a gold medal winner at the Arter Rubenstein Piano Masters International Piano Competition, was impressed by both the ambiance and the acoustics of the town’s most historic building.

During his visit he inspected the church’s own Kawai grand piano, which he declared would have been adequate for his purposes, however the Friends have already made arrangements to bring in a Steinway for the concert.

Tickets will be available from the Drill Hall box office in Lincoln, online at lincolndrillhall.com or at the Horncastle Music Shop in The Bull Ring.
