Due to unexpected repair work being required to the bridge deck, the traffic restrictions on the B1191, Kirkstead Bridge at Woodhall Spa, have been extended and are now due to end in mid-December.
During works to re-waterproof the bridge, contractors have discovered that the existing reinforced concrete bridge deck or surface, requires significant repairs. These will be completed alongside the planned waterproofing works, so avoiding additional costs. It also means there won’t be further disruption caused by contractors having to return at a later date.
Unfortunately, this means that the whole project will now take longer than originally planned, with restrictions staying in place until mid-December.
At the end of the project, the bridge will be closed to vehicles for two days to allow the final surface course to be laid. Diversion routes will be in place for the closure, the dates of which will be advertised once confirmed by the contractor.
