Claire Stanton says her two-year-old boxer collie ‘Wizz’ is a dog in a million and she hopes that will prove to be the case at Crufts 2015 next month.
The Tattershall duo will attend the world famous dog show on March 6 at the NEC in Birmingham after Wizz was named one of the six Scruffts crossbreed finalists.
Scruffts caters exclusively for crossbreed dogs – dogs whose parents are of two different breeds, or a mixture of several breeds.
Wizz scooped the prettiest crossbreed Bitch title after winning the semi-finals of the competition at London’s Earl’s Court in November.
Claire admits it will prove a special moment to take Wizz to join thousands of other dogs at Crufts after visiting for the last decade as a spectator.
She said: “It was fabulous. We were just over the moon when we won the semi-final, I could not believe it.
“I have been going to Crufts for the last 10-years but I’ve never taken a dog there.
“I could not believe it when Wizz got through. She is just a one in a million dog.
“I’ve had her from when she was just eight-weeks-old. She is absolutely fantastic. She is so well behaved although she is quite lively and needs a lot of exercise. But she is so easy to train.
“Wizz loved the attention last time in London. She was going round all the food stalls and I’m sure she’ll be the same in Birmingham.”
The Prettiest Crossbreed Bitch is for dogs aged between six months and seven years.
Wizz will always be a winner in Claire’s eyes, although she admits it will be a struggle to keep her emotions in check if her beloved pet takes home the top prize.
