She’s raised thousands of pounds for charity and now Horncastle’s very own Gladys Tingle can count Paul O’Grady among her fans.
Gladys earned national adulation when she appeared on the Paul O’Grady Show last Tuesday.
Millions of views heard the host praise the 84-year-old marathon ace’s efforts as “magnificent.”
Gladys admits she was “surprised and delighted” by the invite to appear on the show.
However, she revealed she might have to turn down her special reward - champagne tea for two at the famous Ritz Hotel in London.
And the reason? She’s worried they might not let her in dressed in her trademark tracksuit and trainers.
Gladys told the News: “It was a brilliant day and Paul was lovely. He give my a kiss and a cuddle.”
Gladys says she was delighted to be offered tea at the Ritz but was happier with a Paul O’Grady pen.
She added: “The Ritz is a bit posh and it’s not really me.
“I said I just wanted a pen. I really like pens and I’ve got one from the show. I’m happy with that.”
Gladys took three of her best dresses to London for the show but was then told producers wanted her to wear her ‘Go Go Gladys’ T-shirt and trainers.
Happily, she’s no plans to stop fundraising and will compete in the Great North Run later this year.
