THE South Wold Hunt will launch a countryside rebellion over a ban on foxhunting - and its master is prepared to go to jail.

Master Nick Ashcroft, 40, vowed to lead a backlash after MPs voted to ban the sport.

The Belchford-based hunt will carry on despite the decision, which will make fox hunting illegal in July 2006.

Eight people - including grooms, hunt leaders and kennel workers - from the South Wold Hunt are set to lose their jobs.

But the RSPCA and the League Against Cruel Sports (LACS) said the vote heralded a victory for animal welfare.
