Tributes have started to be paid to a well-known and highly respected Horncastle businessman.

Stefan Erentraut, also a leading figure in the Lions organisation, died suddenly on a visit to Chester last Friday night.

Mr Erentraut came to Horncastle in the early 1980s.

The move came after he was appointed Managing Director of Mountview Motors in Lincoln Road.

Previously, he had been Sales Manager at Pelham Motors in Immingham.

Supported by his wife Margaret, Mr Erentrauht trasformed the business.

In a very short space of time, the Horncastle car dealer became one of the largest Lancia agents in the UK.

Unfortunately, expansion into a larger premises in Lincoln proved to be something of a step too far.

After the collapse of his original business, Mr Erentraut moved into a new venture.

With Margaret as company secretary, he set up MVM as a national car leasing firm.

The company was based in offices on the Broadway in Woodhall Spa.

Away from his business interests, Mr Erentraut was an enthusiastic chairman of the Town’s Chamber of Commerce.

However, he was perhaps best known as secretary and past president of Horncastle Lions Club.

He was also a Past District Governor and long serving Cabinet Member of Lions District 105E.

At a national level, Mr Erentraut worked tirelessly as a Trustee of the Lions Club International Fund.

He was also involved in the Lions Club’s International Gift For Living Trust.
