Horncastle Police have confirmed that Stanhope Road will be re-opening today (Friday) - at least a week ahead of schedule.
Police tweeted this morning: “Pleased to report that Stanhope Road, Horncastle reopens today - a week earlier than expected.”
Initial estimates suggested work was set to be completed at the beginning of September - to coincide with the end of the school summer break.
Two of the town’s schools are in the immediate vicinity.
The road was closed is part of joint project between Anglian Water and Lincolnshire County Council.
It was put in place to improve drainage and the road surface.
The diversion route meant there have been complaints about delays through the town centre but police say there have not been any specific issues.
*Lincolnshire County Council have confirmed the road will open by 4pm.
