Hemingby teenager Alex Jowett is training to run her first marathon in London 2016 for Asthma UK. Alex, 19, who is currently studying media at Stirling University, will be running in memory of her friend Damian Parsons who died of an asthma attack.

Alex is aiming to raise £2,000 for the charity. Her fundraising campaign was launched at a garden party held at the home of Damian’s grandparents, Jean and David Hill, where an impressive £550 was raised towards the total. Damian’s mum Karen Parsons said: “The family are very proud of what Alex is doing and are keen to help her raise the monies.”
