Woodhall Spa Parish Councillor has warned residents to be aware that rogue traders are operating in the village.

According to reports, they traders are targeting elderly residents and intimidating them into having tree work carried out.

In some instances, entire trees have been removed - when the work is not required.

The council reminds people that in some areas of the village, approval is needed from East Lindsey District Council before any tree work can go ahead.

That is because many trees are protected.

Anyone who notices any suspicious tree felling is asked to contact the local neighbourhood police team, if possible with a note of details of any vehicles and individuals involved.

A spokesman for the parish council said: “Many of our trees are protected, but sadly that doesn’t always stop people trying to remove them without the proper permission.

“If anyone is approached, please don’t entertain them.”
