Plans to protect the unique identity of Woodhall Spa have received a cautious welcome from parish councillors.
East Lindsey District Council is proposing to introduce special legislation which will apply to properties within Woodhall’s conservation area.
The legislation - called an Article 4 direction - will impose strict conditions on any proposed alterations and improvements.
It is understood even minor alterations would need planning permission.
Parish councillors say they welcome any move to protect Woodhall’s character.
However, several councillors expressed concerns about the possible implications.
Coun Graham Keegan said he was thankful he lived outside the conservation area because he owned a Victorian property that had needed work to solve problems with sash windows.
Coun Rich Sanderson questioned whether people affected by the order would have to pay for any additional costs involved in securing planning permission.
