Plans to combat flooding lead to delay over Mareham Road D-day

Controversial plans for a new housing estate in Mareham Road, Horncastle, could be on hold for at least another two months.

East Lindsey District Council’s planning committee was expected to make a decision on 129 homes at the site earlier this month.

However, the item was withdrawn from the agenda at the 11th hour.

It followed a stormy meeting last October when planners deferred a final decision on the application amid strong opposition..

Now, a site meeting will be held in April to discuss new drainage proposals for the site.

Various groups will be at that meeting - including ELDC and the Environment Agency.

Campaigners are worried about the increased threat of flooding and traffic levels.
