Outdoor living is fine in Spa but just don’t sit on an old oil drum

Parish councillors in Woodhall Spa are all for a European style cafe culture - provided it doesn’t take up too much of the pavement.

Owners of a new cafe in the village have applied to Lincolnshire County Council for permission to site tables and chairs on the pavement in the Broadway.

The premises were formerly the site of the HSBC.

At a meeting last week parish councillors agreed to support the application.

However Coun Richard Sanderson said he hoped the outdoor culture would not obstruct the pavement, causing problems for wheelchair uses, prams and partially sighted people.

He added: “We should support it as long as they aren’t planning a couple of rusty oil drums and old school chairs. That’s not the image we want.”
