Ambitious plans to renovate the Spa Baths complex in Woodhall Spa have received the support of local councillors.

Representatives of GN Construct - a Woodhall Spa company behind the project - met parish councillors recently.

Parish clerk Amanda Bushell told the News the meeting was “very positive” and described plans for the historic building as “fantastic.”

She revealed GN Construction were also in talks with several other local groups as they look to push ahead with the long-awaited re-development.

Mrs Bushell confirmed the scheme could also involve the neighbouring Kinema in the Woods and Petwood Hotel.

The Kinema has plans of its own to expand while the Petwood is set to launch an ambitious project to renovate their historic Peto Gardens.

Any work at the Spa Baths will, of course, require planning permission.

Mrs Bushell admitted councillors were concerned about proposals for car parking.

She said one idea involved potentially clearing a section of woodland near to the site.

She added: “Some councillors had mixed feelings about that.

“Clearly, car parking is an issue and it would be difficult to get planning permission until that has been resolved.”

She said further meetings were planned between councillors, GN Construction and other interested parties.
