Bardney residents asked to comment on future plans

Residents in Bardney are being urged to get involved in helping to draw up a key planning document that could effect future development in the village.

An initial meeting has been held regarding formulating a Neighbourhood Development Plan.

The plan will include a raft of information, including identifying potential sites for new houses and areas of land and buildings that will be preserved for community use.

More meetings will be held throughout this year and parish council chairman Charles Shaw said he was hoping residents would play a part.

He said: “I would welcome written submissions from the public on important items to be preserved for the community - and on what developments they would like to see in the future.”

There has been growing concerns locally about the number of new housing developments.

Coun Shaw has admitted he is concerned about the impact of new homes on several issues, including flooding.

He has called for improvements to public transport to make it easier for people to travel to work and access other key services, including health and education facilities.

The early stages of forming the plan are part of a lengthy process which will involve public consultation and West Lindsey District Council.
