A Horncastle councillor has called for more to be done to clear litter from major approach roads to the town.
Councillor Stuart Attwood, speaking at the monthly town council meeting, said the state of the A158 Lincoln Road was a particular problem.
He said he had walked the route near to the Accommodation Road junction and had even discovered a dead deer which had not been removed.
He said: “Basically, the grass verge at the side of Lincoln Road is a rubbish tip.
“It does not present a very good image to people driving into the town.
“Quite often, it (the litter) is the first thing they see.
“The deer has clearly been there for some time and really should have been remove by now. It’s not very pleasant.”
Councillors pointed out verges on other main routes were also a concern and they agreed to write to the district and county councils asking for action to be taken.
