Police are appealing for information following the theft of a £25,0000 Bobkat excavator from Caistor on Monday night.

A statement from the force said the offence took place overnight on January 4-5, but added it might be possible to narrow down to sometime between 7.45pm and 9.30pm on Monday.

Police said it was taken from a building site on North Kelsey Road, Caistor, and the excavator model E26 was driven from the site.

They said: “It was probably loaded onto a trailer nearby. The Bobcat weighs approx. three tonnes and is 4ft wide and 6ft long.

“Investigating officers think that local residents or people passing by may have noticed this offence taking place but thought nothing of it.”
