Maintenance work to start on Kirkstead Bridge, Woodhall Spa

Work to renew the waterproofing on Kirkstead Bridge on the B1191 at Woodhall Spa, will take place between Monday July 20 and Friday October 9.

Richard Waters, principal engineer, said: “By waterproofing bridges in the county we ensure that we prevent reinforcement within the concrete decks from corroding and keep them in good working order.

“The waterproofing lasts for about 20 years, and helps to prolong the bridge’s lifespan for years to come.”

The works will be done in stages to minimise disruption, however some delays are anticipated and motorists should allow extra time for journeys.

Temporary traffic lights, a 2.5m width restriction and speed limit restrictions will be in place to ensure the safety of the workforce and the travelling public.

The bridge will be closed for two days towards the end of the works so it can be fully resurfaced, and signed diversions will be in place via Tattershall Bridge.
