A Horncastle landlady surprised some of her regulars when she told them she was giving up alcohol for a month.

However, Michelle Hannah - who runs the Crown Inn in the West Street - had a very special reason.

She wanted to raise funds for the county-wide Lincolnshire Emergency Blood Bikes Service (LEBBS).

Regulars were more than happy to sponsor her very own ‘dry mission.’

And her efforts certainly paid off as she handed over a cheque for £105 to officials from LEBBS.

The presentation took place at the Crown last Wednesday.

Mr Tempest said: “We’re really grateful to Michelle and her regulars. They often raise money for the Blood Bikes Service and we hope that continues.”

As for Michelle, reports suggest she celebrated with... a well-earned drink.
