Horncastle is hoping to become more appealing to visitors by appointing an official volunteer tourist guide.
Town councillors were told resident Keith Sellars had been acting as an ‘unofficial’ guide for some time.
However, town clerk Gillian Maguer said that after discussions with Mr Sellars, it seemed sensisble to make the role more formal.
Councillors agreed to appoint Mr Sellars, subsequent to CRV checks.
Mrs Mauger said Mr Sellars often helped visitors by pointing out Horncastle’s many attractions and explaining their history.
The council will supply Mr Sellars with a high visibility jacket.
Coun Rose Williams said that, due to the nature of the job, it was important CRV checks are carried out.
