An event has been lined up to showcase the support available for those suffering from eating disorders in Lincolnshire, with Myers Bakery sponsoring the event.
Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (LPFT) staff have organised an open evening to help promote the invaluable work they do in caring for people battling with a variety of conditions including anorexia nervosa and bulimia, and the support they can offer.
They want members of the public, GPs and other healthcare providers to come along, meet the team, and find out more about the service in general.
Heather Killick, Team Coordinator for LPFT’s Eating Disorders Service said she hoped the event would help to put them on the map.
“There’s been a lot of media attention around eating disorders recently and I don’t think a lot of people are aware of the service in Lincolnshire,” she said.
“This is a great chance for us to promote ourselves and do some networking with local GPs and members of the public are welcome to come and have a look around and meet the team.”
Heather said the event is also an opportunity for the service to tell people about the success of its current Day Programme.
The programme offers more intensive support for people suffering from eating disorders, hopefully preventing hospital treatment and keeping them closer to home.
It has been running for three years and was initially set up with a £5,000 grant from the Queen’s Nursing Institute as a one day a week service based at the Peter Hodgkinson Centre, the Trust’s acute adult inpatient unit, in Lincoln.
The service has now extended to running three days a week.
Heather added: “We hope this event will get the service on the map so please come along and meet the team.”
The open evening takes place on Wednesday 15th July from 5pm to 8pm at the Trust’s Carholme Court in Long Leys Road, Lincoln.
Myers bakery in Horncastle, famous for their award-winning Lincolnshire plumb loaf, has agreed to sponsor the event and will be supplying tray bakes and cakes on the night.
