Horncastle’s MP Victoria Atkins has welcomed plans to start the town’s long-awaited flood defence scheme.
Work on the £8m-plus project - which will be based on the River Bain near Hemingby - is set to start this year.
Ms Atkins said: “ Everyone agrees that Horncastle needs these flood defences and I am pleased that after 25 years it will finally happen.
“I have reviewed the scheme with constituents, councillors and the Environment Agency and look forward to progress being made.”
A planning application for the work has been submitted to ELDC.
