Scam alert and quilting

Scam alert - Hemingby NHW group (Neighbourhood Watch Group) is putting on a Friends Against Scams evening in the village hall next Tuesday, February 20.

This free event will start at 7pm and everyone is invited to go along to listen to two guest speakers.

The first will be Sgt Caroline Broughton from the Crime Prevention and Partnership Section of Lincolnshire Police.

Sgt Broughton will introduce the Friends Against Scams project, which looks at fraud in its widest remit, from doorstep to mailbox, telephone and cyber.

The second half of the evening will be a presentation from Doug Shaw, an IT manager from Morton’s in Horncastle, who will speak and show slides on how we can all help to protect ourselves and our computers against online fraud and scams.

Questions will be invited from the audience, with the evening ending at around 9pm.

Light refreshments will be served for a small donation, with money raised going to pay for the rent of the hall and any excess being given to the LIVES charity.

To help with the catering arrangements, it would be helpful if you could contact Janet Winter on 01507 578676 to ‘book’ your place.

Quilting - The next meeting of the Linus Quilting group will be held at Palavas next Thursday, February 22, at 2pm.

Join them and have a go; the squares will be sewn together to make a quilt.
