Fundraisers are in the pink with a sparkling charity effort

Local fundraisers have wasted no time in smashing through the £1,000 barrier to raise money for Breast Cancer.

To date, the ‘Pink Sparkles’ have collected £1,304 at just three events.

The money will be split between Breast Cancer Care and Cancer Research UK for Breast Cancer.

Spokesperson Carly Dowman said: “The reason for setting up the group is because I had a friend who was diagnosed with breast cancer last year. She has come through her treatment and is doing well.”

The three events included a ‘BodyShop’ Party held on March 28 at Hemingby Village Hall, which raised over £470.

A further £700 was raised from ‘The Race for Life’ at the Lincolnshire Show Ground on June 8 when the group had eight runners, including two children. A Pub Quiz, held at The Coach and Horses in Hemingby, brought in over £110.

The next event is a Zumba Picnic on Saturday July 26 at Horncastle Community Centre. It will be organised by Carly and Sarah Bailey.

It is open to everyone but tickets need to be purchased in advance. They cost £4 per adult and £2 per child. Under 3s are free.

There will be raffle prizes and refreshments will be available. People need to bring their own picnic.

Other planned events include an Adult and Children’s Fashion Show on October 24 at Horncastle Community Centre, a Zumbathon at the end of next January and a Charity Ball at The Dower House Hotel, Woodhall Spa, next February.
