The founder of a cancer fundraising group says the success of a charity ball has encouraged her to carry on with her amazing efforts.

When Carly Dowman set up the Pink Sparkle Breast Cancer Group, she only intended to organise a couple of events.

However, six events later she has raised more than £4,255 in the last year - and is still counting.

The total was boosted by £2,400 raised at a glittering and successful ball at the Dower House Hotel in Woodhall Spa.

Carly said: “When my closest and dearest friend was diagnosed, I felt helpless and wanted to do something to help, not just for her but for other people so I set up the Pink Sparkle Group.

“It was only supposed to be a couple of events, but I ended up organising six.

“Everyone has been brilliant supporting all the different events throughout the year.

“The charity ball was going to be the final one but I now plan to keep on fundraising and have already started on my next event, which is a fashion show at the end of April.”

The ball was a sell-out. The theme was the colour pink and guests were invited to wear an item of pink clothing.

Carly, who thanked everyone for their support, added: “The staff at The Dower House were wonderful and nothing was too much trouble. It was the perfect venue. Everyone had a fantastic night.”
