Have you ever wondered what it’s like to be a student PCSO, or considered applying but wasn’t sure what was involved in the training?
You can now find out more, as one of Lincolnshire Police’s newest recruits has taken to Twitter to chart her progress through the training period.
Last week, PCSO Samantha Evans along with 13 other student PCSOs, embarked on her new career in the force, which begins with an 8 week training programme at Force HQ in Nettleham.
She hopes to use the account to provide an insight into the subjects covered on the course as well as the lighter side of being a PCSO.
She also aims to continue using the account beyond the training period when she starts on her designated beat, as an engagement tool with local residents.
PCSO Evans said: “Ever since I was young, I have always wanted to join Lincolnshire Police to make a difference and build bridges between harder to reach members of the community with the local Police.
“Becoming a PCSO will give me the opportunity to engage with members of the public and I believe using social media is another way to communicate to members of the community effectively.
“Tweeting through training from day one is something that hasn’t been done before, I hope to give more of an insight to the training process and make the connections with the neighbourhoods that could prove difficult due to the geographical nature of the county.”
