After eight and half years working tirelessly for the Horncastle Housing Drop in Centre and the Community Larder Project, the ever popular East Lindsey District Council housing support officer, Sharon Chambers is moving on to a new challenge as a Dr Barnardo’s supportive boarding officer.
At her leaving party on Tuesday (June 30), held at the Manor House Street Centre, her colleague ELDC homelessness officer Richard Hampton presented Sharon with flowers and presents from many of the friends she has made in the post.
Sharon’s departure coincides with changes in staffing arrangements at the weekly “drop in sessions”, P3 a national charity and social enterprise will take over responsibility for housing support, leaving ELDC officers with the responsibility for wellbeing and homelessness.
The Drop in Centre will continue to operate every Tuesday afternoon from 12.30pm until 3pm.
The Lincolnshire Credit Union also operates at the Centre on the same afternoons.
The Community Larder is a local volunteer initiative set up by the Town’s churches and supported by groups such as the Lions’ and Rotary Clubs.
Gifts of food and everyday necessities are stored to ensure that people or families in genuine need have access to at least five days food.
