Horncastle Army Cadet Macauley Cox was given a send-off to remember when he spent his last night with the detachment.
Macauley joined the cadets in 2011, earning his three-star qualification and reaching the rank of Cadet Sergeant.
He leaves the detachment after four years, having enlisted with the Royal Anglian Regiment.
Bill Thompson, spokesman for Lincolnshire Army Cadet Force, said: “Macauley was a real asset to the Lincolnshire battalion.
“He took his responsibilities very seriously and, whether attending his detachment parade night, getting involved in community work, representing the regional athletics team or on annual camp, he was always a bundle of energy.
“Clearly, he was someone who very much enjoyed Army cadet life to the full.”
