Glowing tributes have been paid to Paul MacLeod who is stepping down as principal of the Barnes Wallis Academy in Tattershall.
Mr MacLeod proved to be an outstanding figure in the transformation of the former Gartree School into an Academy. He will leave at the end of the Academic year.
Helen Stevenson, Chair of the Academy Improvement Board at Barnes Wallis, said: “Mr MacLeod has been at the heart of what makes this academy special.
“His commitment to the welfare and education of our students, over what have been some difficult years, has been one of our key strengths.
“Mr MacLeod feels that now the academy’s future is secured and the foundations are in place for its future success, the time is right for a new leader to come in and ensure that Barnes Wallis continues to go from strength to strength.
“On behalf of the academy, I would like to thank Mr MacLeod for all that he has achieved.
“I would not be overstating things if I said that I believe there would not be an academy on this site if it were not for his leadership.”
It was confirmed that Wendy Jackson, currently Assistant Principal at Havelock Academy, Grimsby, will be joining Barnes Wallis as the new Principal.
Mrs Jackson has played a vital role in the improvement of Havelock’s GCSE results by over twenty percentage points over the last few years, and is part of the leadership team that was recent praised by Ofsted Inspectors.
The David Ross Education Trust, of which Havelock and Barnes Wallis are a part, has allowed Mrs Jackson to start working at the Tattershall facility.
Mrs Stevenson added: “I am sure everyone will welcome Mrs Jackson to our community.”
