Leading the way were Head Boy Tom Pavey and Head Girl Rachel Little who scooped a remarkable 14 As and A*s between them.

Additionally, Emily Walton and Bethany Everton achieved 10 A/A*s each.

Ms Shore said: “We immensely proud of all our students.”

There were a number of other really pleasing results, including Sam Cull and Harry Peall who Ms Shore said had contributed so much to the wider life of the school as prefects - and through their extra-curricular activities.

Commenting on the results, she said the school’s governing body and leadership were feeling frustrated in that once again, alterations in grade boundaries and shifting expectations of examination boards had meant some borderline students - who worked hard - just missed out on their expected grades.
