Police in Horncastle have issued a message to youngsters ahead of Halloween and Bonfire Night and told them: “Have a good time - but be sensible.”
Officers have been visiting local schools to advice about general safety issues and responsible behaviour.
PCSO Nigel Wass said: “Most trick and treaters behave responsibly, but there is always a minority. We’re asking people to be sensible when they are out and about.”
Police will have extra patrols on duty and posters are available for anyone who does not want trick and treaters to call at their homes.
Police have issued a reminder that it is illegal for anyone under the age of 18 to possess fireworks in a public place.
They also have the power to issue on-the-spot fines to anyone misusing fireworks.
*Police report several Horncastle businesses have signed up to a scheme which mean they will refuse to sell eggs to anyone under the age of 16.
*Police are monitoring reports that drivers are using the lay-by near the Factory Shop on Boston Road as a short cut to avoid delays caused by traffic turning into the industrial estate.
