Arrest made after police chase from Woodhall Spa to Lincoln

A Doncaster man has been arrested in connection with a number of thefts in Woodhall Spa.

Shortly after 4.30am on Saturday September 13, a member of the public contacted police to report suspicious activity in a suspicious incident in the Clarence Road area of Woodhall Spa. A van was seen parked in the road and items were being loaded into it, including two quad bikes.

The vehicle failed to stop when challenged by officers and a pursuit was authorised, ending in the deployment of the stinger device on Pelham Bridge in Lincoln, an hour later.

The van is believed to have been stolen earlier from South Yorkshire and items recovered from inside were linked to a number of break-ins to vehicles in the Woodhall Spa area.

A 48 year-old man from Doncaster was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving, driving whilst disqualified, failing to stop, plus a number of theft offences. He was later released on police bail until 1st December to allow enquiries to continue.

DC Rhys Tallentire is appealing for further witnesses in relation to the thefts. Anyone with information should contact him by dialling 101. Report crimes anonymously by contacting Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
