Members of Horncastle Town Council’s planning committee will meet tonight (Monday) to discuss proposals for a new housing development.

Nelson Butler and Sons Limited have submitted an application to build 21 dwellings at a site off Elmhirst Road.

The site is currently a wood yard but the owners say it is no longer suitable and want to re-location the business elsewhere.

The application is the latest in a long line of proposals for new homes in Horncastle, leading to concerns about potential impact on the town’s infra-structure.

Although town councillors will debate the issue tonight, it is East Lindsey District Council who will have the final say.

Other agenda items tonight include permission to change the use of an existing dwelling in South Street to provide a pre-school nursery.

Officials at St Mary’s Church are also looking for Town Council support in their bid to replace a section of roofing.

*The planning committee meeting will take at Stanhope Road (6pm).
