Contact wanted for Russian war veteran medal ceremony

North Lincolnshire Council is trying to find the relatives of two British veterans, who are among those to be honoured for their service with the Arctic convoy during the Second World War.

Norman Drury and Bertram F Whorton, both from the North Lincolnshire area, passed away recently.

Russian President, Putin is awarding Ushakov medals to the British veterans of the Arctic convoy to recognise their work during the Second World War supplying Russia with supplies.

Norman Drury lived on Scawby Road in Scawby Brook, Brigg and passed away in February 2015.

Bertram F Whorton lived on Dunstan Villas in Kirton-in-Lindsey and passed away in April 2014.

Anyone who knew either of these veterans, or if you are their family members, is asked to get in touch with the council’s Civic Office.
