Worker, 60, dies after cow ‘attack’

A 60-year-old farm worker has died in hospital after being attacked by a cow.

John Turner was working at HR Bourn and Sons-owned Kilmister Farm in Wragby when the incident happened on Easter Monday (April 21).

The News understands Mr Turner - an experienced stockman - was flown by air ambulance to Hull Royal Infirmary where he died later that week.

It is believed two other workers have recovered from injuries sustained when they went to help Mr Turner.

The incident is subject to an investigation by police and officials from the Health and Safety Executive.

HR Bourn and Sons released a statement describing Mr Turner as a “much valued employee who would be sorely missed.”

They added: “John Turner tragically died in hospital after being attacked by a cow.

“It would be inappropriate for HR Bourne and Sons to make any further comment pending the outcome of an inquest.

“Our thoughts are with his family and friends.”

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, May 20 at St Andrew’s Church in Donington on Bain.
