Booklet will evoke memories of WW1

Horncastle is just one of the many places to feature in a new publication which will evoke memories of the First World War.

‘Lincolnshire at War 1914-18’ is a collection of picture postcards put together by Eric Croft and Steven Vernon.

They depict Lincolnshire soldiers and events during the Great War, along with informative captions.

Eric says: “The booklet is not intended as an authoritative history on Lincolnshire and the Great War. It is only a ‘snap-shot’, making use of postcards”

The Horncastle postcard features Stanhope Hall when it was the headquarters of ‘G Company’ Lincolnshire Regiment and was also being used as a military hospital. The Petwood Hotel in Woodhall Spa also features in another postcard.

*The booklet, published by Reflections of a Bygone Age, is available from a number of outlets, including Perkins.
