Forty years ago, under the ministry of the late Rev Canon Tony Simpson, the parishes of East Barkwith, West Barkwith, East Torrington, West Torrington, Sixhills, Hainton and South Willingham united to form one parish, to be known as the Parish of the Barkwith Group.
This Sunday, May 22, there will be a special anniversary service of celebration, incorporating a visit to each of the previous individual parishes in turn. During the ministry of the Rev Partridge, this became an annual pilgrimage,
The event starts at St Martin’s Church in South Willingham at 10am, before moving on to All Saints’ in Sixhills at 10.30am, St Mary’s in Hainton at 11am, St Michael’s in East Torrington at 11.30am, West Torrington churchyard at noon and West Barkwith Sacred Space at 12.30pm, ending at St Mary’s in East Barkwith at 1pm, when the service will be followed by a picnic.
An invitation is extended to those who wish to join in at any point or visit all the parishes.
