Toon gets top job for Lions

A special constable and former Horncastle business owner has taken over as the new president of the town’s Lions Club.

Alan Toon succeeded Bob Wayne at the ‘Change Over’ dinner at the Admiral Rodney Hotel.

The dinner - a black tie evening - is one of the highlights of the year for all Lions Clubs.

A Lion for over 30 years, Mr Toon is well known in Horncastle as the former managing director and proprietor of Peal Engineering and as a long serving Special Constable.

Accepting the position, he thanked the club for the honour of being president for a second time and presented his predecessor with an engraved tankard.

In his outgoing speech, Mr Wayne thanked members for their support during a very successful years which featured the recruitment of several news members.

The Lions meet at the Admiral Rodney on the second and fourth Wednesday of every month.
