Members of Horncastle Family History Group were entertained by Chrissie Chapman with her talk on the Unsung Women of Lincolnshire.
These strong women were often left behind when their husbands went venturing and had to manage the household, not knowing when, or if, their husbands would return.
They included Dorothea Banks, Ann Flanders and Jane Franklin; the second woman to enter Parliament, Margaret Wintringham, and Marie Worth of the House of Worth.
A fascinating talk well received.
The next meeting is in WI House in Banks Street on Wednesday, March 23, at 7.30pm, when well-known freelance journalist Eileen Chantry will give a talk on Jabez Good of Burgh le Marsh.
