There’s a new face taking on the chains of office at The Woodhall Spa and District Branch of The Royal British Legion.
President, Dave Mullinger received his chain of office from the Chairman, Phil Avery last week.
His first task in his new role was to present Ann Pickup with a Certificate of Appreciation for her long standing work.
Mr Richard Grint gave a talk on the loss of three Battleships in WWI. Described as the worst North Sea Disaster, 1459 lives were lost in 90 minutes when a German Submarine U9 attacked the three Battleships off the Dutch coast in September 1914.
800 survivors were rescued by Dutch fishing vessels. Richard illustrated his talk with photographs many of which had been taken at the 100-year commemoration services of the event held in England and Holland in 2014.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday February 10 at 7.30pm at the Conservative Club when Mr. Fred Parker will give a talk on Bee Keeping.
A raffle held during the evening raised £22.
