An artist from Boston was given the honour of painting a new variety of flower named after pop star Lily Allen 10 years ago.

Sam Zwemmer was commissioned by leading lily growers HW Hyde and Son to paint the bright orange and black flower, dubbed ‘Lily Allen Popstar’.
The flower got its musical moniker after Lily Allen’s management approached the family firm asking if a lily could be named after her, with the Brit award-winning musician choosing the variety of lily herself.
Sam, who had painted a lily for the firm the previous year, then got the call asking if she would like to immortalise it in paint.
“I thought ‘yes, it’s beautiful’,” she said. “My favourite colour is orange.”
