VISITOR numbers held up well for the Woodhall Spa Country Show on Sunday despite a series of showers that swept across the showground.
"It was fairly wet in the morning," said show secretary Sue Stennett.
"But the visitors were soon rolling up at the gates, and when the sun broke through later the numbers really built up."
Popular attractions included a display of Maypole dancing and choral singing from children at St Andrew's School in Woodhall Spa.
Fiona Sanderson was crowned the May Queen in the main ring.
School children also contributed decorated plaques on the theme of wool in the education marquee.
The event's machinery theme was The Lend-Lease Years, looking back at tractors and other farm machinery brought into the UK during the Second World War.
It was echoed by a parade of standards by local British Legion groups.
During the parade a two-minute silence commemorated the dead of recent wars and those of the 20th century.
Rev John Thorold, officiating the parade and a short service, reminded show-goers that another British life had been lost in military action only a couple of days earlier.
An excellent display of livestock featured in the show classes, with the inter-species championship, judged between the individual champions in the horse, sheep, cattle and poultry competitions, won by the champion horse, Hainton Midnight Sensation, a Shire owned by Sue Cosgrove and Mrs S Ford of Gautby.
Trade stand owners also reported that they had a good day.
Mrs Stennett added: "We rely on our hard-working and very competent band of volunteers to make the day as good as it is."
