AN INVASIVE plant which can damage roads and buildings and spreads like wild fire has hit Woodhall Spa.
Troublesome Japanese knotweed was first spotted in woodland alongside Church Walk.
Despite efforts to contain it, there have been two further outbreaks reported at properties along Station Road.
Now, Woodhall Spa Parish Council is appealing for villagers to check their homes and gardens for the plant pest before it gets out of hand.
But there is a stark warning not to try and remove it yourself as this could make it worse.
Coun David Clarke, chairman of Woodhall Spa Parish Council, said: "It is a destructive plant.
"If people see any then stay away from it and contact the parish council who will deal with it. "Don't try to pull the roots up as this will make it worse."
