AFTER enjoying lunch at the Abbey Lodge, the ladies of Woodhall Spa Probus Club were treated to an excellent talk by Lynda Foreman of Traidcraft at their June meeting.
She spoke about the work done by the organisation over the past 30 years since it was formed and especially how it has influenced the role of women in poorer countries.
Many now have an income of their own which helps to provide food, shelter and especially education for their children.
She told us the stories of three women in different countries who had succeeded in setting up small businesses with the help of Traidcraft.
On display were some very beautiful examples of their handiwork.
The vote of thanks was given by Joan Wells who remarked on how important Traidcraft's work is, not only now, but for the daughters and grand daughters of these women.
The meeting was closed by chairman Linda Goodyear who reminded members that the next meeting is on July 15 at 12pm for 12.30pm at The Abbey Lodge, for the annual summer buffet.
