AT THE May meeting of Spa Afternoon WI vice-president Doreen Holmes welcomed members to set the 2009 resolutions.
Under discussion was the proposal that the government be urged to increase funding for research into bee health.
In her account of the situation, Mary Walsham told members that if bees disappeared mankind would have only years left.
Individuals can help by planting bee-friendly plants and monitoring the bee population, she said. The proposal was carried unanimously and Jean Barrows gave the vote of thanks.
Competition winner was Hazel Clarke and flower winner was Joan Harrison.
