30/04/08 - Pool supporters hoping for approval
A MAJOR revamp of the Jubilee Park pool was discussed at an East Lindsey District Council meeting yesterday evening (Tuesday).
Members were due to vote on whether work on the pool, its changing room and café should start this year. A sum of £1.54million has been allocated to the project but members of ELDC's executive board need to vote for the project to become active before the money can be spent.
Coun Craig Leyland, chairman of the Friends of Jubilee Park, said they were "very hopeful" for a positive decision from ELDC.
He said work on the pool and changing rooms would start in the autumn at the close of the 2008 season if the executive board agree to roll out the funds.
Included in the revamp is a £590,000 steel-lined pool that should be maintenance free for about 25 years.
l The heated outdoor pool in Jubilee Park reopens again at 10am on Saturday, May 3.
