ANIMALS, food and farming will be among the top attractions at Woodhall Spa Country Show on Sunday.
The locally-based Paws and Music Association will give two demonstrations during the day at which the oldest participant will be in their 70s and the youngest only seven.

Other new features include an exhibition by local farmers and potato packers showing Lincolnshire's involvement in the International Year of the Potato, set up by the United Nations to show the importance of one of the most useful food crops in the world.

Displays will cover the history of the potato and explain why Lincolnshire has proved to be so good for the crop.
Vintage and modern potato machinery will be exhibited, and farmers from Horncastle and Coningsby NFU will be on hand to answer questions.

The usual cattle, sheep, poultry and heavy horse classes are scheduled, and entries are 'very satisfactory' according to the section stewards, despite the restrictions on movement imposed because of the risk of spreading bluetongue disease among some animals.

Trade stands numbers are likely to be up on 2007's figures and the vintage vehicle display will include a display of Morris Minor Moggies to celebrate the 60th anniversary of the marque.

The Lincoln Red Beef Week will once again be launched at the event and beef from the breed will be available as hot beef rolls and locally produced burgers, as well as fresh meat to buy and take home.

Gates will open on May 18 at 9.30am on the showfield near Jubilee Park.

Former Bucknall farmer Wilbert (Wib) Young will be signing copies of his book My Lincolnshire Long Ago.
The 84 year old author can be found in the Rotary Club marquee and is looking forward to meeting up with old friends.
